Tuesday Topics #74: The Return of the King

Published by Fluffy

Jake pulls back the curtain to tell you about upcoming Donut Team changes and teases some updates for Donut Mod.

Introduction

Hello everyone, if you don't know me, my name is Jake. I founded Donut Team along with Loren and Kenny Giles back in 2013. About two years ago, I departed from the team to focus on my personal life after some unfortunate events and a falling out with the team. As of August 12th, I have made my epic triumphant return to the team. I'm here to stay, shake things up, and make some radical content for you all to enjoy.

I'll share more about my return in a bit, but first, let's talk about what's been going on with Donut Mod.

Donut Mod just got a 'striking' upgrade

The Bowlarama, last previewed in February 2021, has received major updates to improve the overall aesthetic and take into account the feedback we've received. Designer Colou has taken the time and effort to carefully add correct lighting to the scene, creating an experience that matches Radical's original design for the game.

Raising the Bar: Higher Resolution Art Assets

Tyler Oram has been revamping old art assets like collector cards. The new art assets are now in a higher resolution and are more accurate to the show.

We have a lot more in progress, but we'll be sharing more about that in the coming weeks.

The Return of The King & The Future of Donut Team

Lord of the Rings "The Return of The King" intro scene

The past two weeks have been an interesting shift, I've adapted to the changes made in my absence and met with the team who joined after my departure. I begun by introducing a new Code of Conduct to our staff members to help ensure that we are on task and working towards our goals. I've been reviewing the work that has been done in my absence and I'm thoroughly impressed with the work the team has shown me that I've missed out on. While we still have a ways to go on several projects, I can assure you that the progress made has been nothing short of amazing.

There has been understandable concern about the future of Donut Team regarding lack of releases and updates to our projects. I want to assure you that we are working on changing this and with my return, I am taking charge of the team to ensure that we are on the right track. I have already had several discussions with Lucas Cardellini and Loren about how we can get the next version of Lucas' Simpsons Hit & Run Mod Launcher out the door and into your hands. We are working on a plan to get this done as soon as possible and we will be sharing more information about this in the coming weeks.

As previously mentioned, we are revisiting our processes, guidelines and goals to ensure that we continue to deliver the best experience possible for our users. We've been meeting and working with various members of the community to get feedback on what we can do to improve our processes and how we can better serve the community. Many of you have already shared your thoughts with me and we are taking them into consideration as we move forward. I will continue to be connecting with new and old members of the community in our Discord server, so if you want to chat with me, feel free to join us there. If you want to talk to me directly, you can send me a DM on Discord or email me at jake@donutteam.com.

We have a lot of work cut out for ourselves, but I'm confident that we are on the right track to making Donut Team better than ever before. I'm excited to see what the future holds for us, and I hope you are too.

Conclusion

That's all for this week, we're going to hunker down and get back to work on our projects. We'll be back with the next Tuesday Topics with some more exciting updates. Until then, stay safe and have a great week.

P.S.: I want you to listen to this and TBA wants you to listen to this.
